OBT participated in the New York Association of Training & Employment Professionals’ (NYATEP) Advocacy Day, to demonstrate the overwhelming support from across New York State from the business community and workforce sector for S6589 (Persaud)/A7534 (Rosenthal) which would establish a six-month, 100% income disregard for New Yorkers receiving cash assistance and participating in job training, postsecondary education programs and unsubsidized and subsidized employment programs.
We asked that this legislation be amended to include assistance related to childcare, food, and housing, and pertain to any government funded job training, education or employment program. During the day we met with Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson, State Senator James Sanders, State Senator Mike Gianaris, State Senator Diane Savino and State Senator Simcha Felder.
