Meet Our Graduates

Fatoumata
Career Readiness + High School Equivalency (HSE)
Melanie Jean-Louis

Sandra
Career Readiness + High School Equivalency (HSE)
Guadalupe Clemente

When Sandra joined OBT in September 2024, she was hesitant about taking her GED exams. But with determination and support, she pushed herself—arriving early, staying late, and putting in extra study time. Her hard work paid off as she passed three exams back-to-back, and most recently, she conquered the math section, becoming the first graduate of cohort 11.
As President of OBT’s Ambassador team, Sandra has found purpose in mentoring others. She tutors fellow students in essay writing, helping them pass the RLA section of the GED, and has become a respected voice in the community. Through teaching, she discovered a passion for guiding others, which has sparked a new goal—pursuing college and a career in healthcare.
Sandra’s journey is more than academic success—it’s about discovering her potential and shaping her future. With her resilience and drive, she’s just getting started.

Shanae
Construction
Anthony Errante

Meet Shanae, a former participant of our Masonry Program and a powerful example of what long-term impact looks like.
Shanae completed the program at OBT in 2019, where she found not just hands-on training, but the motivation and confidence to invest in her future. She shared that her time at OBT helped spark her belief in what was possible—and that belief continues to carry her forward.
Today, Shanae is a 4th-year apprentice with Local 28, building a career rooted in skill, stability, and growth. Those who know her describe her as someone who radiates joy and peace, and that same energy shines through in the way she shows up for her work and her life.
Shanae’s journey reminds us that the impact of workforce training doesn’t end at graduation—it grows over time. We’re so proud of all she’s accomplished and grateful she remains part of the OBT family.

Stephanie
Healthcare
Kiana McCrea
Stephanie, a participant in our Pharmacy Technician Training Program, passed the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Pharmacy Technician exam on her first attempt, a huge accomplishment that reflects her focus and drive. What stands out even more is how she showed up for others along the way. By sharing study strategies and content she created, Stephanie helped many of her peers prepare and succeed as well.
Through ongoing support from her case manager and consistent check-ins, Stephanie stayed accountable, motivated, and fully engaged in her goals. She used that support not only to succeed personally, but to create a positive impact within her cohort.
With aspirations of becoming a doctor, Stephanie is continuing to build her pathway in healthcare. She’s currently planning to attend Eastern University to pursue a degree in Chemistry.
Her story shows that real impact comes from combining ambition with community and bringing others with you as you grow.

Jason
Construction
Jason Moye

Jason has been a dedicated participant since joining OBT’s Construct Forward program in the fall, eager to gain hands-on experience in #construction. Through his training, he earned valuable certifications, including OSHA 30, SST 10, Flagger, and OSW (Offshore Wind), thanks to our partnership with Kingsborough Community College.
In January, Jason began an internship with Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County, where he worked on various home restoration projects. It was here that he discovered his passion for renovation, carpentry, and painting. His enthusiasm for the field grew, and he sought additional guidance from Mr. Tiebout to further his career goals.
Jason’s commitment to his growth was evident as he consistently attended job placement workshops, interviews, and sought support with resume building and mock interviews. His proactive approach and self-advocacy led to him securing employment with DC 9, marking the next step in his construction career.

Ceara Mamadou
Adult Literacy
Ceara Emmanuel Dixon

Mamadou, An asylum seeker from West Africa, Mamadou arrived at OBT with little to no knowledge of English, testing at level 0 on the Best Plus assessment. Undeterred, he enrolled in our ESOL class, maintaining near-perfect attendance throughout the year. He also joined our computer basics class to build work readiness skills while continuing to practice English.
By the end of the cohort, Mamadou had made significant progress, testing as a high level 1. Over the summer, he obtained his Employment Authorization card and sought opportunities to further his skills. He expressed interest in a work readiness program, but our ESOL/OSHA class required a minimum level 3 on the Best Plus test. Remarkably, Mamadou skipped level 2 entirely and tested directly into level 3!
