Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) exists to break the cycle of poverty and inequity through education, job training, and employment. Our vision is to strengthen the workforce by serving as a bridge to economic and educational opportunity for individuals in underserved communities. Through our skills-based training, educational services, and direct job placement efforts, we build upward economic mobility for out-of-school and unemployed youth and adults and provide the skills necessary to gain a competitive edge in the job market. Finally, OBT maintains a commitment to fostering and maintaining a work environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are woven into our organizational DNA.
The Adult Workforce Development department at OBT strives to place both walk in clients as well as participants from its adult literacy programs into family sustaining wage jobs. This work requires the development of suitable employment, training, and service partners as well as individual and group work readiness development efforts with program participants.
The Job Developer will develop and work with employer partners around the development of suitable job orders for program participants, prepare program participants with resumes, application completion skills, and interview skills, and capitalize on the employer partner relationships to secure placement and retention documents for those placed in employment with these partners. Partnership development should home in on those growth sectors in which the agency is training its participants, across all contracts.
