Advance & Earn

Brand new program for 2020!

Get paid while preparing for full-time employment!

In partnership with the Department of Youth and Community Development, OBT has launched its new Advance & Earn program for 2020!

This program is part of OBT’s Young Professional Institute (YPI), a collection of programs designed to help young people find meaningful employment and reach their full potential!

The goal of Advance & Earn is to prepare students for the TASC exam so they may receive their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, formerly known as the GED. At the same time, we want to give students experience in the working world so they have some experience once they complete the program.

Each student will receive support services from OBT to make sure your expectations are met and we’re doing everything to help you succeed!

Level 1

For students who need support completing their education before entering the workforce.

The Pre-HSE component focuses on education to make sure students are ready for the workforce. Instruction will be split between academics and work readiness, and students can receive a $150 weekly stipend for maintaining a 70% attendance rate.

On completion of the Pre-HSE component, students may have the option to move to the HSE component of Advance & Earn.

Level 2

When you’re about to finish with school and need your first job, OBT’s here to help.

For more academically-ready students, the Advance & Earn program is designed to get you your High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma and out the door as fast as manageable.

We’ll provide individual support to make sure you’re ready for the TASC exam and have partnered with employers in the region to guarantee paid internship placement. Each internship is 250 hours and will be paid minimum wage.

This is a great way to boost your credentials before the program’s complete so you and your resume are ready to hit the group running!
