Position Summary:
As Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) celebrates its 36th Anniversary, we are looking for a strong leader to be a Youth Program Director in our Innovation Lab at Industry City. This position will provide supervision, leadership and oversight of an interdisciplinary team of staff serving young adults. OBT’s technology program is entering its fourth year, and there are several new industry partnerships launching in the 2020 program year.  The Program Director will have an opportunity to shape the program design and structures in collaboration with our partners.

Responsibilities:
The Program Director will oversee 4 primary processes: (1) participant recruitment and placement, (2) team and program management, (3) grant management and fiscal oversight; and (4) liaising with partners to ensure program success

 Participant Recruitment and Placement

  • In collaboration with the Director of Outreach & Community Partnerships lead the development and implementation of programmatic recruitment strategies
  • Pitching to prospective program participants and social service providers
  • Recruiting program participants using appropriate promotional and marketing methods, such as presentations to community-based organizations, individual student outreach, social media, etc.

 Team and program management

  • Deliver on an interdisciplinary program model that combines workforce development, youth development, and technical skills training
  • Supervise, coach and develop a team to provide quality service in fast paced, outcome oriented program
  • Develop systems for quality improvement and data informed programming; including ensuring fidelity of program implementation
  • Maintain and exceed programmatic goals for a variety of performance based contracts
  • Tackling operational challenges (e.g. trouble shooting facilities challenges, maintaining and submitting site related compliance documentation)
  • Attends to and builds a team culture that supports the organization’s mission and values

Grant management and fiscal oversight

  • Manages grants and ensures all contract deliverables are met and correctly reported to the appropriate funding partners
  • In collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, manage programmatic budget

Liaising with partners to ensure program success

  • Cultivate and manage institutional partnerships, including day-to-day communication and collaboration
  • In collaboration with OBT’s employment team, establish a system for communication, data sharing, and feedback loops to inform program improvements
  • Act as liaison with both government and private funders, as well as community partners
  • Leverage and deepen relationships at Industry City and the surrounding community

 The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Will have prior demonstrated success in leading and developing staff
  • Experience in developing programmatic systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external partners

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, masters preferred
  • At least 6 years relevant work experience
  • Experience in workforce programs
