Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow Hosts the Fourth Annual Summer Soiree on June 16th at Battery Gardens
Brooklyn, NY – Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow’s (OBT) is hosting its 2015 Annual Summer Soiree on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 6-9pm at the beautiful Battery Gardens in Manhattan (inside Battery Park) overlooking the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. The Summer Soiree is OBT’s signature event each year and a chance for the organization to highlight to the greater community, its success in changing the lives of young adults and to thank its supporters who make it possible.
Each year, OBT honors community and business leaders who have shown a commitment that reflects OBT mission of helping disadvantaged youth and adults recognize their own self-worth, and advance towards self-sufficiency and financial security through job training, academic reinforcement, improved life skills, job placement, and support services. This year, OBT is honoring Marvin Schein with the Corporate Leadership Award. Marvin Schein is the co-founder of Salmar Properties which owns Liberty View Plaza in Sunset Park. For the past several years, Mr. Schein has shown his commitment to creating local employment opportunities by connecting OBT grads to jobs located in Liberty View Plaza. OBT is recognizing Allen Wright, Director of Advancement for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14 to with the Community Leadership Award. In his position, Allen Wight has been committed to connecting New York City youth to union jobs.
Over 350 community and business professionals are expected to attend the event, which features a cocktail reception and a silent auction. In previous years the silent auction has featured Yankees-Red Sox tickets, an iPad, and a yearlong membership to the YMCA.
Date: The Soiree will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 between 6-9pm.

Attendance: Between 300 and 350 business and community leaders attend the event, which honors key business and community leaders that have supported OBT’s mission and vision over the years.
