Dr. Salman Azhar is the Chairman of Neurology and Rehabilitation Services and Senior Vice President at NYU Lutheran (Brooklyn NY), one of the first institutions in New York City to receive Joint Commission and New York Department of Health designation as a Primary Stroke Center.
Dr. Azhar received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his residency in neurology at Mount Sinai Medical Center (New York City), followed by a two-year fellowship at NIH focusing on stroke. Board-certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology he serves as an investigator in multiple clinical trials in acute stroke and stroke recovery. He is also a member of the New York Department of Health Stroke Advisory Group and the New York American Heart Association Stroke Task Force.
